Several Americus-Sumter High students recently participated in the second annual "Chalk Walk Americus" sidewalk art competition hosted by Calvary Episcopal Church. For the competition, artists used impermanent paint or chalk to create pre-approved designs on squares on the sidewalk along Brannon Avenue in Americus. Americus-Sumter High secured several awards in the competition: ASHS student Collin Fillingame won first place in the "best individual high school" category; ASHS students Jonathan Marin and Hannah Martinez won first place in the "team high school" category; ASHS students Makyre Spann-Payne and Kiara Cromer won second place in the "team high school" category.
