Principal Message 2016-2017

Greetings Students and Parents:

I am proud to be the principal of such an exciting and dynamic school and to work in the unique and beautiful area of Americus and Sumter County.

Our goal is to provide an enriching, engaging, and challenging learning experience that will prepare students College and Career Ready while at “The Americus-Sumter High School” (ASHS). We believe that students, parents, and teachers all play a vital role in helping students reach their greatest potential. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the many resources and opportunities available to them including the after-school academic tutorial (P.A.S.S. Program), CTAE Clubs, media center, computer labs, school spirit days, student council, athletic offerings, and teacher tutorials and websites. Parents can check academic progress regularly via our Infinite Campus parent portal and can access information about school events on our school website.

At ASHS, we recognize that social/emotional development is as essential to student success as academics. Therefore, our students’ success is based on the partnership among students, staff, and parents. Active parent participation is essential to our students' success. Please contact any of your child's teachers or attend any of our quarterly Parent Conferences/Night/ PTO for information on how you can support our work and your child’s success. Teachers provide a nurturing environment in which young adolescents can learn, take risks, and thrive. Their work, in partnership with our parent community, has and will continue to support us to fulfill our school mission:

“… to provide a quality and equitable education to all students. We will endeavor to achieve a 100% graduation rate and have all students score above the state and national averages on all standardized test.”

I look forward to working with you and your child during the 2016-2017 school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time; our continued success is dependent on your feedback and support.

Educationally yours,

Kimothy Hadley
